A Course in Miracles has sold over 3 million copies, gaining the status of a modern spiritual classic. It has a course in miracles become a text that is read and studied in all sorts of ways.

DavidPaul and Candace Doyle, teachers of the Course, have given workshops in over 100 locations on hearing the Holy Spirit within as a distinct, conversational voice. They share these teachings in The Voice for Love.
What is A Course in Miracles?

The Course in Miracles is a spiritual teaching that emphasizes forgiveness as the key to healing and finding peace. The premise is that all problems and difficulties stem from our misperceptions about ourselves, others, God, and reality, and the Course helps us to replace these with the truth. The goal of the course is to experience a state of perfect love, perfect freedom, and perfect oneness that transcends our current perception of life, and remember who we are in truth.

The course is taught in three books: The Text lays out the concepts that make up the Course's thought system; the Workbook for Students offers daily lessons to apply this teaching to our lives; and the Manual for Teachers provides answers to frequently asked questions. The text uses Christian terminology and symbols, but the teachings are universal, non-dual, and evoke themes common to Eastern spirituality as well.

When the Course first appeared in the late 1960s, Columbia University psychologists Helen and Bill Schucman had become tired of their own acrimony and decided to find another way of living together. As a result, they gave over the control of their lives to Love and allowed the miracle of the Course to be revealed through a process of inner dictation. The voice that spoke to them said, “This is a course in miracles; please take notes.” Scribing took place over the course of seven years, and the Course was published in 1976. Helen and Bill do not claim to be the authors; they give all credit to “the voice” that dictated the Course, which is referred to as Jesus throughout.

A Course in Miracles is a self-study curriculum. It has no central leader or designated teacher, and the lessons can be done in whatever manner is most comfortable for the student. As the manual for teachers states, the course is “highly individualized.”

Anyone may benefit from this teaching, but it is a book that requires an intellectual level of understanding, as many of the lessons are written in blank verse and integrate sophisticated metaphysical, theological, and psychological concepts. The course is also profoundly spiritual, and its principles are reinforced through the daily practice of the lessons.
The Voice for Love

During one of the most difficult periods in his life, Henri Nouwen wrote this intimate and moving account of finding the inner Voice for Love. For all those who have lost their sense of self-worth and energy to live, this book of connecting with the Source of Loving Guidance within is an essential guide.

The gaze entices, inspects, fascinates; the voice hypnotizes, seduces, disarms. How do we love when both are part of the essential antagonism between the sexes?
How to Hear the Holy Spirit Within

While the ego often speaks to us, it is not our only source of guidance. The Holy Spirit speaks to us as well. It is essential to understand the difference between the voice of the ego and the voice of the Holy Spirit. It is also necessary to develop a practice for hearing the Voice of the Holy Spirit.

The Course describes the voice of the Holy Spirit as a soft, comforting, gentle, and loving presence that does not judge or condemn. The Holy Spirit does not tell us what to do, but rather teaches us how to be guided by God's Will for our lives.

In his book "Absence from Felicity: The Story of Helen Schucman and Her Scribing of A Course in Miracles," Kenneth Wapnick describes how Helen had a series of inner visions, heightened dreams and psychic experiences, culminating in the Fall of 1965 when she heard an inner voice that said "This is a course in miracles; please take notes." The Voice that dictated the Course identified itself as Jesus.

David Paul and Candace Doyle have been hearing this Voice as a distinct, conversational voice within them for the past 15 years. They want to help others learn to do the same. They have asked the Voice over 100 questions and recorded its answers in this book.

You can begin to hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit by reading the Bible and letting it saturate your heart and mind. The Bible is the vocabulary of the Holy Spirit and was written by men who were carried along by the Spirit. Once you are fluent in the language, the Holy Spirit will be your guide as you read the Bible and apply it to your life.

Listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit can be challenging, as it is difficult for most people to distinguish it from the voices of their own egos. It is helpful to remember that the ego is always wrong and that the Voice of the Holy Spirit is correct and loving. Once we can discern the Voice of the Holy Spirit, we can follow its lead with confidence and joy.
A Course in Miracles Audiobook

A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is a self-study spiritual thought system that consists of three books and one supplement. Written by Helen Schucman, the Course teaches that the way to universal love and peace--or remembering God--is by undoing guilt through forgiveness. The Course also emphasizes the healing of relationships, both personal and professional.

ACIM focuses on healing the mind by replacing fear with trust, and retraining the ego to view life from the perspective of Love's truth. It focuses on the importance of forgiveness, and it provides a step-by-step process for doing just that. It's a profound teaching, and it's often difficult to comprehend or apply. That's why Alan Cohen wrote this audiobook, A Course in Miracles Made Easy: The Rosetta Stone to Understanding and Using the Course.

In this book, he breaks the Course down into 22 concise, easy-to-understand chapters. He uses entertaining examples, stories, and real-life applications to make it easier for listeners to understand the underlying principles and philosophies of the Course. It is an invaluable resource for both longtime ACIM students and newcomers to the practice.

The first edition of A Course in Miracles was published in 1976, and has since become a modern spiritual classic, with over three million copies in print and ACIM study groups worldwide. This Original Edition takes the text back to its original form, restoring material removed and rearranged in later editing. Its conversational tone invites listeners into a dialogue with the Author, and even advanced students of the Course have found a fresh clarity in this restored version.

In this introduction to ACIM, Miller discusses the philosophies and teachings of the Course, including such key themes as the transformation of consciousness through forgiveness, living in an illusory world, and the ego-self's deception. He also addresses the question of whether or not the Course is Christian, and he provides evaluations of ACIM by various spiritual writers and assessments of its status in our society. In addition, he includes his own critique of the Course and its influence in his life.
