No one wants to find out that there is a bed bug in their home or commercial property. These bugs can be disgusting and are not a lot of fun to deal with along the way. Being able to identify when one of these bugs are on the property is the first step to recognizing that you have a problem and it is time to get a professional in to take care of the problem. But what does a bed bug look like and how can you manage to keep them far away from your property?

The first thing that you need to look at is how a bed bug looks. Identifying them will help you to not bring them with you when traveling and will make it easier to catch when some are on your property. A good way to recognize these bugs is that they are oval shape and pretty small, with most not going to get bigger than 3/16th of an inch for the length.

They do look different when they are eating compared to before eating. For example, before they have had a meal, they are going to be flat and brown. But when they are done feeding, they will be red and swollen due to all the food that they took in. This can help you determine whether the bed bug has had a meal recently or not. In addition, they will have 6 legs and 2 antennae on them, but they will not fly. They move around by attaching themselves to people and luggage and even animals who are moving.

It is possible to see an adult bed bug, without needing some special tools to get this done. Yu should be able to see them within the mattress seams and box springs. Bed bug nymphs are harder to find because they are not only smaller than some of the adults, but they will be a lighter color than what we discussed above. This is how they are able to grow and spread so quickly without you even noticing.
